Bus Ride from Pennang to Johor Bahru

Pennang is one city in Malaysia, which consists of a lot of old world charm. In recent years, the city has seen a lot of traffic development but the people have not forgotten their routes. The mind-set of the people is changing every day but the people still embrace the age-old traditions at the same time. People from diverse religions are living in this city and actively contributing to the food culture. The development has been so rapid that the International visitors famously refer to the city as the ‘Silicon Valley of the East’. Penang is divided into two main areas, which is the capital of George Town, and the other one is Seberang Perai. The traditional and cultural heritage sites have been preserved so well that in the year 2011 the place was deemed as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tall building within the city offer a sparkling view of the coast.

The food in the city definitely reflects its population. The cuisine in the restaurants is multi-cultural and the street food is popular amongst the locals as well as the tourists. Indian, Chinese and Malay – you just have to ask for it. After plenty of partying at the stunning night clubs of the city and shopping until I exhausted all my money I decided it was finally time for me to pack my bags and head to my next destination, which was Johor Bahru.

Since I ended up spending a lot in Penang, I decided to save on my further trip ahead. Travelling by air would disrupt plans of mine. Eventually, I figured out that travelling by Bus would not only save me money but also ensure a convenient and comfortable travel.  After a lot of research online, I came across this website which had plenty of Operators to choose from plying on the route between Penang and Johor Bahru.

There were 3 famous Operators, plying buses daily on this route.  KPB Express, Star Mart Express and Konsortium had more than 12 buses departing in the entire day. KPB Express had 8 buses departing right from 8:00 am in the morning to the last one departing at 11:30 pm in the night.  KPB is an economy coach Operator and is best for those who are booking tickets only a day in advance for Johor Bahru. With so many different departure times to choose from you can definitely secure 2 to 4 seats on the RedBus website just a day in advance. The duration of the journey is about 9 hours. However, if you are lucky and do not encounter any traffic you may reach Johor Bahru about 30 to 40 minutes before time. Star Mart Express was another Operator plying 2 buses in the day – one at 9:30 am in the morning and the other one at 11:00 am. Star Mart being a luxury coach operator, tickets were priced upwards at MYR60 for a single seat.  However, this is justified with the range of amenities the Operator offers.
